A warm, feminine and elegant mid-length winter coat with outstanding heating qualities. The riding coat is nicely fitted and is made of carefully selected materials and specially developed features, making time spent at the stable and with your horse even more enjoyable, no matter how cold it becomes. In addition to the warming ability, Nordic is characterised by its elegant pearlescent finish and stylish design. The winter riding coat has a fashionable and elegant design perfect for cold winter days.

Nordic Mid Coat Mood Indigo runs a bit small. Choose a larger size if you're between sizes. Don't forget that proper insulation is achieved when there's air between you and your outerwear.

Description

The winter coat for equestrians is made of comfortable materials and smart and practical functions that are thoroughly tested and developed to make cold days in the stables and on horseback as lovely as possible. To enable horse riding, the coat has a two-way zip in the front, a high slit in the back and leg straps on the inside to keep the riding coat in place. Uhip's fold-down hand warmers are comfortable to pull down over your hands while holding the reins. Another great feature is the adjustable hood, which can be pulled over the top of your helmet which comes in handy during harsh and windy weather.

This is a popular option if you would like a warm and cosy coat for cold days, but prefer a shorter design than Uhip's longer model. This will keep you as warm as our Nordic Coat, but is 15 cm shorter.

The garments we call Nordic are really warm, keeping you warm to about -15 degrees, and the insulation maintains its function even in damp environments.

In addition to keeping you warm, Nordic also have certain built-in protection against precipitation. So, you'll be fine for outdoor activities in rugged environments, even though they are primarily designed for cold weather. Our Nordic family consists of coats in two different lengths, jackets and thermal skirts, all of which have a well-fitted, stylish design without being tight. They are quilted with wide, full channels, and the colours are rich. The fabric has a pearlescent-like, beautifully shimmering surface.

    Materials

    Shell:

3/3 Polyamide 2-layer, 100% Polyamide, Ripstop with shiny surface. TPU Film
Durable and lightweight 2-layer Polyamide material. Polyamides are known for their durability and resistance to wear and tear. They are commonly used in outdoor and performance clothing. Polyamide is a lightweight material that is stronger than polyester in relation to its weight. Also referred to as Nylon.  Ripstop construction with a shiny surface makes the garments more resistant to tearing and ripping. PU membrane to provide high water protection and breathability.

    WP: 3000 mm
Water column is a way of measuring the degree of waterproofness in a garment to understand the garment's ability not to let water through. How high a water column a garment can withstand is also affected by how it is used; a harder and more active use requires more of the material. Therefore, we recommend regular reinforcement with impregnation to ensure the full function of the garment.

    MP: 3000g/m2/24h
Breathability is often measured in a ‘g/m2/24hrs’ measurement. This rating represents the amount of water (or sweat) by weight that can pass through a square metre of fabric over a day.

    Taped seams
Essentially, taping seams enhance the waterproof protection of clothing. Needle stitching leaves tiny holes in the garment through which water can seep when worn in wet conditions; taped seams prevent this from happening.

Bionic Finish ECO Fluorocarbon free DWR
Fluorine-free water repellent textile finishes to achieve water-repellent effects. Many plants have a natural water repellency. BIONIC-FINISH® ECO absorbs this effect so that we can use it for our products.

    Insulation:

Uhip does not use down in our garments, but we have used wool or synthetic fibres instead. The benefits of synthetic insulations are that they keep the heat even in wet condition and it dries quickly. The basic principle for all insulations is the same: small spaces in the fibres encapsulate body heat and keep you warm. The more air between the body and the cold, the more effective insulation.

    DuPont™ Sorona®, SEE ECO 60% Elastomultiester with Sorona®, 40% Polyester, Downlike synthetic
    DuPont™ Sustans Sorona® ,SEE PRO 200gsm, 60% Elastomultiester with Sorona®, 40% Polyester, Flat synthetic

See DuPont™ Sorona® is a synthetic insulation focused on sustainability made from annually renewable plant-based ingredients. DuPont™ Sorona® fibres are produced with a patented technology that provides lightweight, breathable warmth with a soft feeling and has superior compression and recovery.  It is quick drying and also has the benefit of keeping you warm even if it gets wet. DuPont™ Sorona® fibre/ polymer is Oeko-Tex® certified.

    Lining:

Dot Pattern print lining, 100% Recycled Polyester
All Uhip products are made with 100% recycled Polyester, 38gsm. Recycled polyester is made from recycled materials (PET and polyester fabrics). By choosing recycled polyester, we can deliver the same technical performance in fibres with a smaller environmental footprint.
