Ice Thermal Skirt Blue Graphite
Grey
A warm and weather-resistant thermal skirt designed for those who lead an active life and spend a lot of time outdoors during the winter months, whatever the weather. The knee-length riding skirt keeps your legs warm even in the saddle – by opening up the two-way zip at the front and the zip at the back, you can sit in the saddle while the skirt hangs down and warms your thighs. The Ice skirt has a sporty look and is made with an ample amount of warming synthetic down, which has the same warming properties as down but with the advantage of maintaining these properties even when wet. The outer fabric is made of a weather-resistant material, which means that the winter skirt is suitable for those who spend a lot of time outdoors during the winter months, regardless of the weather.
The skirt fits true to size and features an adjustable waist for a perfect fit. Nell is 175cm and wears size 36.
Description
The riding skirt is Uhip's true classic, which we invented with the aim of keeping the rider warm in the saddle without bulky coveralls. By opening up the two-way front zip and the zip in the back, you can sit in the saddle while the skirt hangs down and warms your thighs. The inside of the skirt is equipped with leg straps that can be fastened around your thighs to keep the skirt in place.
The skirt is very easy to put on and take off with the two-way front zip. Thanks to the breakaway waist, there is no need to pull through dirty shoes, and you can even take it off when you are on horseback. Perfect for taking off after warming up and putting back on when it is time to walk the horse.
Match with an Ice jacket for a flexible alternative to a long coat.
Features
Family
The Ice family consists of equestrian winter clothing suitable for riders who spend a lot of time outdoors. The garments keep you warm and endure precipitation.
Wearing the sporty Ice look you are made visible in the dark thanks to the reflective details in the design. All garments in the Ice family are closely fitted yet give you freedom to move around, and the width allows a mid-layer underneath. The width design also allows air to collect on the inside, which is heated by your body, making our garments extra warm and cosy.
For more information about the sizes - see the general body size guide.
Materials
Shell:
7/5 Bonded Polyester 2-layer
Polyester Ripstop with a matt surface and bonded quilting. The TPU membrane will provide high waterprotection and breathability.
100% Polyester
Polyester has exceptional colour resistance and retains colour intensity very well. Other benefits are its high tolerance to many chemicals and extremely low water absorption (for example, when you perspire, the material releases moisture into the air instead of absorbing it. Uhip is aiming to use only recycled polyester in future.
WP: 7 000 mm
Water column is a way of measuring the degree of waterproofness in a garment to understand the garment's ability not to let water through. How high a water column a garment can withstand is also affected by how it is used; a harder and more active use requires more of the material. Therefore, we recommend regular reinforcement with impregnation to ensure the full function of the garment.
MP: 5000g/m2/24h
Breathability is often measured in a ‘g/m2/24hrs’ measurement. This rating represents the amount of water (or sweat) by weight that can pass through a square metre of fabric over a day.
Taped seams
Essentially, taping seams enhance the waterproof protection of clothing. Needle stitching leaves tiny holes in the garment through which water can seep when worn in wet conditions; taped seams prevent this from happening.
Bionic Finish ECO Fluorocarbon free DWR
Fluorine-free water repellent textile finishes of RUDOLF GROUP to achieve water-repellent effects. Many plants have a natural water repellency. BIONIC-FINISH® ECO absorbs this effect so that we can use it for our products.
Insulation:
Uhip does not use down in our garments, but we have used wool or synthetic fibres instead. The benefits of synthetic insulations are that they keep the heat even in wet condition and it dries quickly. The basic principle for all insulations is the same: small spaces in the fibres encapsulate body heat and keep you warm. The more air between the body and the cold, the more effective insulation.
